Bayside Council was proclaimed on Friday 9 September 2016. It brings together the City of Botany Bay and Rockdale City Councils. The City covers approximately 55 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 156,500.This blog is dedicated to the area’s fascinating local history.

Council preserves the district’s past through the following services:  

George Hanna Memorial Museum

Located inside Mascot Library, this Museum holds two social history exhibitions a year.

Local Studies Collection

Council currently holds two local studies collections located at its libraries in Eastgardens and Rockdale. Collection items include books, photographs and information files on many local topics. If you have any enquires please contact our Heritage Librarian.
